Just wanted to say hi to everyone, I meet some of you last Wednesday at the meeting. I'm new to 4 wheeling but I'm looking forward to going on trail rides and learning as much as possible about Jeeps. With that said I know the March trail ride is set for Crozet and the thread about it says its moderate/difficult. I'm looking for honest opinions on whether this is a good ride for my first. I'm driving a 2006 Rubicon with no upgrades (as of yet  , but definitely open to ideas) Let me know.

JMUJeep,
First welcome! You have come to the right place for information and I hope you find the info you are looking for.
As for your question.....everyone has to start somewhere. Ansel Adams had his first day with a camera. My advice would be to go but ONLY do what you feel comfortable doing. You will learn a lot by merely just being there and observing. Look at the lines folks pick (how that attack obstacles) and what the vehicle characteristics are. You will not learn this by not being there. You will not be pressured to do anything that you are not comfortable with by anyone (just do not let your ego talk you into it) as there is nothing to prove. If you need help and want someone to ground guide you through stuff they will. Ensure that you introduce yourself when you get there, be honest and let them know your skill level and they will put an experienced person in front of you. If you come to something that is beyond you then bypass it. If I am able to come (the chances are improving...rig issues) then I will be happy to help you out.

With all of that being said, others may share a different ideal as this is only my opinion. I would suggest that you take full advantage of the Recovery 101 classes on 31 MAR 07 with more to follow.

Cheers & Welcome!

Welcome JMU!

Bring your Rubi on out to Crozet! Stick to the blue trails and you will be fine. Take the bypasses on anything you are not comfortable on. The other club members do a good job of spotting/talking new drivers thru the obstacles.

Your Rubi has tow points, 31's, and lockers - all you need!
