Well, I was doing my post run inspection and noticed a small pool of diff fluid below my rear 8.8......grrrrrr
I crawled under there to see what the heck was going on and I can see where the Rockcrusher Diff Cover on the Ford 8.8 and the new Warn Gas Tank Skid are contacting each other during articulation. It is hitting so hard that it is unseating the seal on the cover and causing it to leak. Not good..... 8O
First thoughts are as follows:
1. Find a slimmer diff cover for the 8.8 to gain the clearance needed
2. Remove the GT Skid and grind the area to obtain the clearance
3. Grind them both
Finding a slimmer diff cover seems to be the easiest. Anyone got any ideals on a slimmer diff cover that may work? I know that ARB is coming out with a new cover, BTF has on but it may be just as thick. I am open for options.

Mike i would pull the skid down and cut out the section that is hitting the diff for needed clearance. you won't loose any strengt with the gas tank skid if you cut out a 4x4 section. I have heard of this before and that was the fix. Go from the cnter of the contact point and measure out 2 inches in each direction. Then mark it out so you have a square. now you will see how much to cut out.

Thanks for the info Mike! Are you running an aftermarket GT Skid with yours or factory tin? Sounds like you have the fix and once again thanks for the advice.
I am just not looking forward to listening to my father in law sit and complain the whole time when I go and take the skid off.......

LOL!! Remove the skid and do the mod at shop night. Leave the father in law at home.

sounds like the best answer is a genright gas tank, just a joke but it would work.

Good suggestion, more clearance AND more tank capacity, but they sure are expensive!!
