Jeep shot epoxy all over the bolts behind the seats on the floor. Such a PIA to scrape off.

Was making good progress until this happened! Only Torx bit I don't have a backup for. FML!

So hopefully tomorrow I can get the rest banged out. :clap2:

Why didn't you call someone one! I could have swung down that way to lend a hand!
You welding in or bolting in?
MarineDawg
01-26-2012, 08:18 AM
Bolting. Cage is already welded together. Just need to get it in, then the seats, and have the bar across the B pillars welded in for the harness'.

This happened. :brick:

So now I have to figure out how to remove that. Only F'ing bolt holding me back from removing the stock cage.

01-26-2012, 07:02 PM
That sucks! can you weld another bolt onto it? then use that?
MarineDawg
01-26-2012, 07:53 PM
If I had a welder yes I'm sure I could. Pisses me off.

01-26-2012, 07:55 PM
I could bring mine down tomorrow after work if you need me too.

or do you have an extractor kit? not sure if they would work or not since I know those bolts are hard to get out... maybe some heat and an extractor?

you are welding in the cage right? F it, take your flat grinder and wack the bolt head off and be done with it.. Why screw with unbolting it

looks to be too far back from the windshield maybe a spacer goes there? To correct inconsistencies from each model ?

No I slid it back trying different ways to get the windshield holes to line up. I did not expect a completely trouble free drop in, but this is way off. Waiting for them to call me back. The guy is at lunch. I have been F'ing with this thing for a couple days trying to get it in. Only time I had to work on it on my days off and the kids in Cali. Maybe beer will help me figure it out.

I don't know Keith. I have the B and C pillars bolted in, and driver side windshield. Both sides of the lower A and pass side windshield are all out of wack.

This is why you have one custom made or make one yourself :israel:
I'm sure you'll get it all squared away eventually.

You will have to shim it up at the floor posts if the hols on the frame are higher than the ones in the cage.

Talked to Rick at PSC and he is going to take care of it.

So here is my update.
After talking to PSC, they had me take the Jeep to a PSC dealer down in F'Burg. Extreme Inc. Good dude that owns it. Well I loaded it up on the trailer and took it down there. Dropped it off after talking to Steve the owner of Extreme Inc. and headed home. Got a call from PSC telling me to go pick it up, take it out, and get it ready for UPS to pick it and ship it back. They are going to send me a new one. I told the guy at PSC that I have been more than patient, and that he had me wasting my time and diesel. He said don't worry and " I am gonna hook you up with a smoking deal". My question is on what? I'm not paying for shipping or shit to do with this cage. They filed a damaged in shipping claim so it is going to be sent back to them by UPS. They going to give me free shit? He told me he was gonna hook me up I just had to be patient. So I am in waiting wondering WTF?
To add insult to injury...... The Jeep does not want to stay running. Starts fine, drives fine, but when it drops back to about idle it dies.

No refunding a portion of my money. That is what I am waiting on.
D and B I have a guy down here that is going to fix it for me. The whole point of us buying a pre welded cage is I didn't have the time or skill to do it myself. We will see what happens, but like I said I am pretty pissed at this point. Been a month since I brought the issue up to them.

Could Steve Johnson fix it?
On PSC's dime and not yours of course

Thats sounds good. Only reason I brought Packard up is you're been there and he did Diego's.

Chris' place is a haul from here. Plus Steve down here is good to go. Already checked him out, and he has already looked at the cage.

They should be paying your mortgage, those bastards.... :a_eek:
Are you traumatized... law suit perhaps.... ?
Shit happens... The blame is on UPS not the vendor. I do agree however that they should have handled this in a different way. Good luck man....

All I read is that they are filing a claim against UPS... was it actually damaged in shipping, or was it made incorrectly?

Dan pretty sure it was damage in Shipping. The A pillars are bent backward a bit and are not flush against the dash. That threw off the windshield mounts.

My only guess is it was smashed in the truck when it was packed in with other items. I agree would have been one hell of a hit. Just posted all this on MJ. One of their sales reps is always on there with their new deals for military members. We will see how this goes.

remember the poison spider today is not the same as they were pre 2008... the original poison spider went bankrupt... now it's another dude running it.
no way shipping could make your cage "short" they f-d up and are trying to put the blame on the shipping company so they don't have to pay. total BS man. I'd cancel everything with them and call GenRight!
