Thinking about putting on my Dually-2x2-LED lights on tomorrow on the front tabs on the bumper. The are supposed to be crazy bright.

Also ordering the Teraflex exhaust spacers to keep the drive shaft from rubbing the exhaust so I can put on at 3.5 or 4.5 AEV lift like I before then slap the 35s back on again. Watch this video to understand what I mean. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKBlEpMaJC4&feature=youtu.be

I"ve had my axle drooped down as far as it can go to put my lift on, and again the other weekend to remove the front coils to weld on my c-gussets, and my drive shaft didn't hit the exhaust.

But I will keep an eye on it!

Also, I will say the front drive shaft angle looks really bad even on level ground right now.

Installed the winch today, I used liquid-tight plastic conduit to protect the winch cables from abrasion when I ran it under the grill and through the engine compartment, I sealed the end outside the engine compartment with RTV to keep the water out of the liquid-tight. The routing was a bit wierd and they have turned the battery 90 degrees making my + cable a bout 3 inches to short so it runs across battery for now. the routing at the bottom of the 1st pic the gray tubing nearest to fender. Took me about 5 mins this time to line up the bolts instead of the hour last time. Total time was about 2.5 hours to do everything.

My lower control arm skids came in today, my last Jeep's axle tube LCA mounts took a beating a number of times so with the new one I'm installing the 1/4 thick Skid Row LCA skids to protect them and keep the in good shape

Pick of the kids as I received them

and installed, a bit hard to see

I have a bit more of the liquid-tight stuff left, I that stuff in the basement for about 10 years and never used it till now. Got a set of these on back order too http://www.quadratec.com/products/16315_6408.htm for the rear to relocate the shock mounts 2 inches higher and it skids the bracket for shock and LCA in the rear.

Question!
Do you have kiddos?? I'm looking at the 2012 JKU also but I'm worried about the comfort of the back seat. I almost feel claustrophobic back there. But I want one BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Especially after seeing your pics! Beautiful!

ThinkMud
10-13-2011, 08:41 AM
I have an 11 year old and a 4 year old and they are fine in the JKU. This past weekend I had 3 11 year olds in the back at Rausch Creek, and 2 of them fell asleep going up a blue with a ton of rocks! Kids are fine in the back of a Jk!

Scrambler84
10-18-2011, 01:57 PM
I installed my 2010 JKU Hard top on my 2012, everything fits well and is pretty tight, no wind noise and passed the hose spray test shot directly in the seals for good 5 mins all around, gonna leave it on until it rains a few times for a good real world test. All holes line up, 2 bolts front and 6 bolts rear, the last 2 rear bolt holes are a bit different in that one side of the notch is missing on the tub and you have to hold the clip/nut piece up until it threads, when removed the can be stored in the hardtop storage bin the back of the Jeep. I'll get picks up later today and update this when it rains. I had this top left from my 2010 and hoping to save about $2400 for a new one or the 1600 for dual top group. I don't have the wiring in the 2012 to run the wiper or the hose for the fluid squirter in the back (yes its a technical term lol)

Disclaimer: I'm not recommending this to any and can't be held responsible when yours leaks or flies off going down the road ect. if you do the same thing. Just passing along information as found for the new 2012s.

did you wire yours up yourself? I have thought about just wiring it seperate

ThinkMud
10-19-2011, 01:24 PM
have not wired it yet.

But the connection on the hardtop itself looks different than the old one, but not sure if the actual wires are different or not.

I was thinking about just running 2 toggle switches to run the wiper and the defrost, but not sure what all it would need, like power/relays etc... 169 for a wiring harness plus having to have the dealership flash the computer to get the defrost to work (100 bucks i've heard) seems a little pricy...

So why not get a Commander, Liberty, Patriot, etc. The best part of the Jeep is the ability to take the top off and enjoy the sun over your head. :boink:

no 4:1 t-case, no solid axles up front, no stock lockers, no huge industry for aftermarket parts.... should i keep going? real jeeps(wranglers and cj, etc..) can go off road and be built, having the top on or off has nothing to do with getting over a rock.:pound:
I can still take the front panels off when I want the sun on my head... which is still nice i suppose. but no room to take the hard top off now, we have 2 trailers in our garage, the new camper is 19 feet long! but... i'll still probably get another soft top for next summer haha

but for this time of year and winter, you can't beat a hardtop!

Thanks for the help today Bnizzle - Brendon (one of our newer guys). We got the Brake lines finished off and bled and we got the exhaust spacers installed. PS I did go back and tighten up the Y pipe clamp we forgot. No exhaust leaks. I got the springs out now and it has a whole lot more room for axle drop in the front with the spacers. Still don't like the drive line angle much.

did you weld those on?

Scrambler84
11-28-2011, 09:04 AM
Nope but the can be if you so desire, it shows in the directions where to weld them at. They are bolt on but you have to cut down the original bracket and remove about 1.5 inches of it at the bottom along with the old shock mount. Two 3/8 x 1 inch bolts in the back bolt it to the bracket you cut down, and the 9/16in bolt is longer for the rear LCA mount. They should stay put.

ThinkMud
11-28-2011, 09:08 AM
If you want to weld them on, come by this weekend and we can knock it out.

Bnizzle
11-28-2011, 09:56 AM
Those look sweet bro, i like how they support the CA's brackets. Not just a weld down them for the cheaper rock plates they have for that.

Stop doing mods that force me to start thinking and spending the kids xmass fund! lol

Oh you get that bumper yet? i got a few tips for ya on install that may or may not apply depending on what mold your bumper came out of (had an issue with frame mounts on a batch of them...of cource i got that one)

Scrambler84
11-28-2011, 10:06 AM
No bumper yet, they charged my on the 14th of Nov and the are back ordered still on the damn spindle, so its sitting and waiting, would be nice to have soon. These are my B-day present from the wife. I got them on a week before my B-day lol

Bnizzle
11-28-2011, 10:16 AM
do they raise the shock mount? what 1.5 in or something...not sure how that will affect travel for everything. Or is the shock mount at the same location?

Have you stuffed the rear yet to see how it affects the shock travel?

Scrambler84
11-28-2011, 11:37 AM
raises shock 1.5 inches, wouldn't think it would effect much except the bump stop needs to be taller to keep the rear springs from coming unseated.

ThinkMud
11-28-2011, 11:49 AM
raises shock 1.5 inches, wouldn't think it would effect much except the bump stop needs to be taller to keep the rear springs from coming unseated.

The bump stop wouldn't effect the springs coming unseated, they could come unseated from the droop, not the stuff. Just make sure your shocks don't bottom out at full stuff. from your pics, it doesn't look like much up travel in the shocks, so maybe taller bump stops would help them.

Bnizzle
11-28-2011, 01:58 PM
Yep that was my line of thought too, i guess in this case the shock would be the bump stop...till it gets crushed on stuff. Wouldn't think i would want a shock as a bump stop. If, if there is an issue larger bumpstops would fix it, but now your limiting your travel due to a shock.

But then if this was a huge issue of losing 1.5 inches of travel we would not be the first ones to debate it. I say stuff it and see if it stops due to shock or if you clear to bump stop with still some chrome showing on shock...if shock hits first, and still have room till bump stop...ugg will have to then start looking for work around.

ThinkMud
11-28-2011, 02:17 PM
he will lose a little up travel, but the benefit would be he is gaining down travel! up travel is not important on the trail, more droop is what you want!

Scrambler84
11-28-2011, 03:09 PM
All I have to do is flip the bump stops I have over, they are the 3.5" / 4.5" lift bump stops. They are taller on one side then the other, I'll just roll them 90 and swap the bolts, should be fine, lift comes with both sets of bolts.

Bnizzle
11-28-2011, 03:48 PM

Those look legit...so with that set up, you lost 1.5in front lower mount..but gaining 2" on top with an over all increase of .5"...(see mongo can do math)

Sounds like a win win...a bit more travel? and moves shock mount up out of the way...let me know how it goes i might just pull the trigger on this set up...

Let me know when you go for install might hop over and check it out

No body issues, end of the frame was a pain in the ass though, I had to get it on semi straight and then bump my butt into the back of bumper to get it to slide into place for bolts ect to line up.

For your light...i would recommend running that cable down the tire swing to the swivel, can be zipped tied easy, then down behind the bumper.

you can then run it up under the body to the side grommet that also houses the tail lights, it brings the wires from inside the truck to the outside for the tail lights... pop off the tail light, to help move the wire from under the body to the grommet, and run the wire right up and wire it up in the cab to make sure it stays clean and dry....

did the same on the other side for the back up lights..no connections spliced outside of the truck means i don't have to worry about road grime.

I would take ten sec if you need pics...let me know

Wilson's Jeep Shop - Heavy Duty CB Mount for 2007 - 2012 JK

Fully adjust able and short enough to keep the metal off the plastic of the center console. Very solid made from 1/8 plate for set bracket and 3/16 channel for the swing arm. All made from scrap metal I had laying around.

So I had this all kinda assembled since it doesn't really come with directions, then I took it apart and did it as I saw fit, found it easiest to lay on back and put the skid on chest, install Skid hangers on to the engine mount bolts and then push the skid itself up and put in top most bolt on either side of skid loosely. After that I screwed in drivers side bolt on cross member in the back of the plate. I then but in second bolts on either side of the engine mount hangers. After all where loosely bolt up to hold it in place moved it around to have best clearance in the front of the engine and tightened engine mounts to 45lbs torque, then tightened front most bolts to 45lbs, then rear bolts to 45 lbs, then drilled hole for the passenger side cross member attachment point and tightened both rear bolts to 45 lbs sliding open end box wrench inside cross member to hold the bolt and using allen wrench bit socket on torque wrench. Picks show skid on wood but found it was easier to hold it on chest to install.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-5Ta11RN-elA/T13xboQVFUI/AAAAAAAACs4/a9XgYDnFSlE/s720/SkidDriver.JPG

Skid drivers side, near bottom of pick is the drivers side engine mount hangar with the hook piece, found that I had to spread the hook just a bit to get it to fit over the engine mount bolt. I also ground the opening of the 1/2 inch spacer a bit wider to allow fitting over the bolt as it would go on when I 1st got it. I also ground it down about 1/8 of an inch to let all threads on engine mount bolt catch once bolt was tightened back down. putting it in at 1/2 thick left about 2-3 threads inside the nut unused.

Do you still have your stock tie-rod? can i borrow it if you do? I want to put a stocker back on and dial in my tow-in to see if that is causing some steering issues on my JK.. My RK tie-rod can't be adjusted to the proper tow-in (it's the beefy 1st gen of their 1-ton tie-rod). Their newer ones are more adjustable, but not as strong. But I may have to go to one of those if the stock tie-rod fixes my pulling issue... pulls constantly in either direction, and sometimes switches on me at the worst times LOL

Just the front engine oil pan and transmission one is on, still have to install the transfer case and cross member one and the gas tank one over the stock gas tank one which requires notching the stock gas tank skid to allow the hangers for the new skid to fit over the stock one. I'll grab a pick later today from the front of the vehicle to show what's now on it.

Should be able to adjust it, just requires removing it ever time to twist the ends in or out accordingly, that's one of the reasons bought the poly tie rod, full adjustable while on the vehicle and as strong as the one you have. My stupid alignment is off again so I gotta get tape and roll it forward and back doing measurements.

Found out I really need the PSC boat side rockers, had to spend 20 mins straightening out a bent backwards body mount that must have brushed a rock at Rausch Creek.

I can adjust it, but only one full turn of the tie-rod end at a time, so it can't get dialed in perfect, it's either too much in, or out, can't get the 1/8th that is spec, i'm a tad over 1/4" in, but one full turn makes me tow-out:( My tie-rod has the 2 right side Moog ends, so they are both right hand threaded. but they are beefy:) I'm as close it can get unfortunately (this is why they changed their design).

I have also been drooling over those dam rocker guards...was hoping to find a deal on them, but might just have to pull the trigger before the big summer runs..

So the gas tank skid goes over the stock one? better toss on a thick coat of sealer on the stock skid, if you have any scuffs on that bad boy she will turn in to dust in a few years...but then again you already have it covered..

double check with Mike to make sure he doesn't have plans for it but the rubber bedliner from Dave's MJ is still in the cage at the high school why not paint the wood black then glue some of that black rubber down there... or just buy a can of this to spray on it... http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Bed-Armor&153;-DIY-Truck-Bed-Liner,-Black,-16-5-oz--Aerosol-Duplicolor_10066313-P_N3419C_A|GRP60026_____ (http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Bed-Armor&153;-DIY-Truck-Bed-Liner,-Black,-16-5-oz--Aerosol-Duplicolor_10066313-P_N3419C_A%7CGRP60026_____)

whats an e track?

Same stuff used in delivery trucks and big tractor trailers. Has clips on end of straps that clip into the slot then you can ratchet the straps down tight.

At least the ones I used were ratchet style.
