So i can toss it at the old ladies Jeep.
It seems to only want to start once a day... serious. I have gone out there every hour since 2pm to start the Jeep. It seems if you drive the Jeep 50 feet and thats it. It dies. Battery is 100%. Has fresh gas, even has fresh oil, spark plugs, wires, distributor, ignition coil, belts, fuel filter and PCV are all new.
We are still trying to figure out the vacuum lines... I have a "road map", but that is like trying to follow a piece of speghetti. I would do the Nutter Bypass but I need to pass emissions...(still working on my sister-in-law on letting me "rent a room" from her so I can use her address to register both the Jeeps down there.
AND
to the best of my knowledge it isnt shifting gears either. It didnt even have enough power... floored.... to get up some raps.
PLEASE HELP. These Jeeps have got to get to Burke by next week... and I really dont want to have them towed.
...and taking it to a shop is a no go... the other Jeep is costing me enough money as it is. I am willing to pay someone here though.

It's probably that damn carb...when mine was at it's worst it would not run at all...have you rebuilt the carb yet? I have a kit I'll give you if you need it...plus a parts carb to boot. Once I rebuilt my carb, it ran (and still runs) like a top.

The carb that came with the Jeep was in really bad shape... but ran very nice... just the arms for idling were broke so you would have to keep your foot on the gas at stops. But when we re did the wiring harness I had threee carters and took what pieces looked good and made one. It will idle now at least - when it starts!

Hey Eric I know this will sound Funny But How about disconnecting the the down pipe off the exhaust manifoldand pull it back so there is a gap between the 2. Start the engine with the exhaust diconnected there and then attempt to drive it. If it continues to run you have a restricted exhaust. This is a very comon problem on vehicles that sit for long periods of time. The cats come apart and plugs up the outlet on the cat so air will not flow out of the engine into the exhaust and the engine will not creat a suction to pull in new air to run!

The exhaust does come out of the tail pipe... I have put a towel over it and it starts to choke... so I wasnt thinking that was the problem. I will try it your way though.
<singing> "have it your way, haveit your way, at burger king today!"
I think thats how the jingle went?

think it could be a fuel pump/delivery problem?

Wont start today... firing order is correct.... unless I am going to replace the exhaust now, there is no way to get it undone...
... the wife flooded it yesturday so it seems to get fuel.
I do have a granade but it doesnt have the good stuff in it... maybe I will weld it to the hood to use as a hood orniamint (sp?). 8)

I guess checking the fuel pressure at start, then after starting would be a good idea unless you've done it already. You can probably get the guage for free from autozone with deposit, and would be an easy check before you started ripping apart exhaust.
8O ????????????????????????????????BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !! LOL sorry!

You can still have exhaust coming out at idle, but once you start to move what ever could be loose could move around and plug the exhaust. I would try this first and see if the jeep will start. If you have fuel and spark then the only other thing you need is air.

Took out the burned cut wire O2 sensor this morning... with a few (10) cranks it started. Idled for about 10 minutes and backed her up, put it in drive and moved 4 inches and died. She said it had zero power. Even though it sounded like a V8, it still had some exhaust coming out the rear, and the O2 hole. It did seem to idle alot better... about 1000RPMs.
So, I am thinking that is a toss between the exhaust being clogged and the freaking carb not giving air or fuel or something. I've never had to deal with a Carter... last Carb. was a weber.
I have e-mailed Randy for a price on some stock replacement exhaust from Q-Tec.

OK, after replacing the entire exhaust sytem and buying all new sensors (none were plugged in anyways and most arent still) and a new carb (MC2100), new wires, fluids and a general tune-up she runs! Runs really good!! Just need to do some brake work (total replacement) and get rid of the isolated squeek. :D
Oh... and some lighting issues... the reverse light is on a switch (will that pass inspection?), I think the head light issue is the actual switch cause sometimes they work and sometimes they dont.

Yes. Just let them know that when you take it in.
