Yea it was a great time as usual. Shame we didn't get more time in.

Nate had a issue with someone running through his fence and spent a bunch of time chasing down loose cattle.

It was fun hanging out with everyone yesterday and finally seeing Mike's princess in action. Other than a blown axle seal on Mike's rig, there were no issues with any vehicles. Assuming there are no plans with the family next weekend, who's in for next Saturday?

Maybe. Its an exercise in lateral downward and out pushing. More commonly known as the Vato crank.

Mike I have some of the princess. Hang on I'll get them downloaded.

Keith, I'd give ya a ride, but my junk rides on mine.

Should move this thread to trail ride reports and pictures too.

Just so everybody reading this thread knows, the Gulch is private property. It's not part of B4WD, or open wheeling.

We contribute to the cost of the property with the guy who rents it. We occasionally invite a guest out to see the property, and so Deadman (he's the guy) can get a look at you too. If it's a good match, he'll invite you to be part of it. Beautiful, nearby spot with 100 acres for camping, cookouts, wheeling , whatever, but we can only keep it if the users will help support it.

I'm going to post a sticky about this, and in the future we'll put any Gulch threads there. Thanks to Blair for this idea.

It's great. Diego had been looking for folks maybe this coming Sat. I know I'd like to get out for a couple hours.

I'd actually like to look for the next new trail to cut. :tinysmile_aha_t: We need to expand our network some more.

I or Diego can be the required invite out.

That be perfect, I need to make a dump run with trees and a freezer that used to work storing meat....

Notice I said used too. Came home to a foul stench, guess the freezer in the basement died sometime yestrerday or the day before, didn't take long for the meat to start stinking. :tinysmile_cry_t4:

blthomas
09-14-2010, 07:33 PM
Yea, that part was fine. Down in the bottom, still solid and covered in ice. But the stuff on the top shelf, totally thawed and nasty.

Guess what cold air there was last couple days fell to the bottom.

That particular package was moved Sunday AM by chance. 10 pounds of plastic ziplock, 10 pounds of cargo. ;)

Mike,

If you haven't already used the pole cutter return it. I've got a pole chain saw you're more than welcome to use.

You missed alot of breakage and not alot of wheelin' :D although a couple were earlier than us. We got there 10:30ish.

There is still lots to cut in places. We managed to make a new trail.

What did ya break?

blthomas

What did ya break?

I had a buddy weld my rear axle perches for me as I didn't think my skills would cut it. He's a cert'd welder.

We didn't pull the axle at the time, but marked, measured, measured again, then he welded them for me.

I never looked, but they were booger welds. They did hold for a year, but it sat alot too.

Those welds broke, the rear axle spun up in the u bolts under throttle and popped the rear straps. The u joint is done at that end of the shaft too.

Not terrible, but what a pain. We were trying a new way out with lots of shit in the way.

That's what I bought Will! It works awesome. I am going on the roof today to trim branches close to the top of the house.

Blair I snapped the right side tail pipe in half on the scrammy down at the Gulch last week end so I did break something too.

I had a great time yesterday, thanks for the invite. The trip had everything from a smoking clutch (mine) to dripping gasoline (not mine), got to participate in some wheeling, trailbreaking, and recovery ops. Definitely looking forward to doing it again.
