Before I close it up...

The pic shows how the parking brake adjusting pin is relating to one of the springs. I've installed it as specified, and it looks like the pictures in Haynes. But obviously, that adjusting wheel is going to hit the spring every time with every notch that it's adjusted.

Can anybody confirm, this is how it goes?

I wish I could help you with this, but I'm mostly used to rotors.

Update... I was able to slide the pin slightly outward (it would have settled there itself). Contact still made with the spring, but not quite so much. Same on other side of vehicle.

When I turn the adjuster, it lightly pings the spring. As I recall, I could hear that in that past when adjusting parking brake.

So I guess all is well, but would welcome other thoughts on this.

You know when D and I re-did my drums, although it's a Scout rear axle, I think my spring slightly touched the adjuster.

Mine seems to have been fine, I just assumed that it had to touch due to little clearance.

Been 2 years about and working OK.

it's correct frank if the spring was not touching it the adjuster would loosen up and fall out causing damage. It creates resistance on the spring.

Okay, thanks Mike. Moving forward...
