Hello to all. My name is Alex Robles.

I just moved to the area. I will be living on FT Belvoir. I am a Soldier in the Army. Im married with four kids. My DD is a silver 05 Unlimited Rubicon, RE 3.5" lift with 33" BFG A/T's.

Looking for a good Jeep club to meet new friends to wheel with. Im hoping to trail ride at least once a month.

Sounds good!, I had a few friends with Jeeps in NC.

We worked on each others rigs and wheeled together but I have never really been in a formal club.

Anybody here good with CB's? Mine got installed in a mad thrash to get it done before I left and im getting alot of engine noise back through the radio. Its driving me crazy.

I'd check your ground on the CB. Get a good ground strap for the antenna and mount it securely.

And welcome!

Welcome!!!! You will meet an eclectic group of folks on here. (Even a few of us who are/were in the military!) But all of us have the same passion....Jeeps!

Wow! Thanks for the welcome!

My CB is mounted in a Tuffy overhead console. The antenna is mounted on one of the can carriers attached to my rear swingaway system. I think a ground strap there may be in order but I am unsure as how to run it.

As I said, the radio went in fast, so better power routing, grounds, antenna coax or a filter all may help. I think the radio is not recieving as well as it could either. I would appriciate an eval and help once I meet the group.

Thanx again! :D

Please feel free to join us, Wednesday during our weekly meet & greet meeting, perhaps we can take a quick peek at your CB.

turn the CB on and swing the arm open and closed a few times. If you hear any kinds of crackles or pops from the CB then it's most likely the ground.

Get a ground strap and run it along the arm to your bumper mounts somewhere.

engine noise is usually either a bad ground, or an ignition part that's getting flaky. make sure the radio and antenna both have a good solid ground to start. A filter will help, but finding the source of the noise it always the best solution. good luck...

Thanks!

I met 02tj at lunch today and he had some ideas too. We are going to run the power straight to the battery first and then add some grounds. I need to work on this thing as the engine noise is so bad that its useless unless its on local.

jus remember, there's two power leads, the one for memory and the one for the radio, noise can get in on either one....
