After about less than a mile of trail riding, Blair and I both managed to get our vehicles out of commission. The latest trail that we marked and cut has proven not to be a joke. Here are a few pictures to probe it.

Diego = Clutch destroyed, broken windshield, some body damage, pulled back to the front of the trail by Yetti's 4-wheeler :tinysmile_cry_t2:

Blair = Broken passenger side u-joint, bent short axle shaft.

What was it you said to me a few days ago, it's not the trail (or the rig), it's the driver?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

OH... no.... Wait until you see the pictures that Theresa took. I should have never attempted to go through there, but I did. Bottom line is... I made it. :tinysmile_fatgrin_t

I'll take it with the same ride I had today.

Heather will let me go play to make a quick $100.
Actually I went right through it behind you with no rubbing. :D

Far as my carnage, I did rub my skid plate a little might need to recover it with mud.

Other than reverse not currently working at the moment, Diablito is good to go thanks to Blair.

Everything shifts smooth, there are no leaks, nothing is grinding..... I have no idea why reverse is not working. I will need to do some research to identify the problem. Anyway, here are some pics.

Too bad you can pull the remote with mine :tinysmile_eyebrow_t

I know the feeling when I was at the junkyard picking parts and realizing how tiny these things really are.

I should be able to make a gulch trip this weekend. Most likely Sunday morning.

It sure did go together well, and after driving it (both of us) I sure don't get why it won't drop into reverse.

Shifts great 1 - 5 ...... gotta be something other than the clutch.

EDIT: I think we ought to tinker with that clutch linkage with the adjusting rod. I think maybe something is out of adjustment a bit due to the new clutch being ginormous. Just kicking that idea around while reading stuff.

Could we have monkied something up when it was down?

We dropped it and pushed it to the side, then D did some minor stuff when it was sitting on the pan.

Update: The f%$#^%$ clutch cable broke while adjusting, now I can't get the tranny into any gears..... Piece of S@#$%t..... :tinysmile_eyebrow_t

Man that sucks! Hey did you guys take the extension housing off the top of the trans where the shifter drops down into it?

Pacifier
09-19-2009, 03:26 PM
Yes, I did. I replaced the bushings and the shifter bolt (holds the shifter in place). I may just have to buy a new transmission and quit F%&^%^ around with this one. Just to make me feel better, I ended up buying a windshield fold down kit, hood latches, and a new clutch cable until I figure out in what direction I'm going to head. What a pain in the ass. I guess I won't be wheeling anytime soon. :tinysmile_cry_t4:

Who cares.... Football season will keep me busy. :tinysmile_twink_t2:

SHIFTER BOLT? Did you count the turns out and put the new bolt in the same mount of turns? Was the bolt the same size and length? This might limit if the shifter will allow the trans to go into reverse.

Hoping it's something that simple, that would be awesome.

I dented the right rear corner pretty bad, left rear is pushed in a little around the light, and the fenders took more beatings.

Tried to squeeze past a tree on passenger, kissed the windsheild frame. Didn't pop the glass, but mangled the metal some.

Need to grab the tire carrier from Mike's shop when he gets bettererer.

Thinking of doing some light fab with a pipe bender and the welder for my front fenders. If they come out decent, I'll do the rears and maybe open them up a tad. I dunno. Don't want to cut the tub.

I also managed to bang the exhuast enough to knock apart two clamped joints. Guess I'll crank them down and then tack them also so the muffler doesn't dissappear.

As well as power steering is still loosing fluid way too fast. And the carb still dibbles when it's parked.

And a couple of us got stung AGAIN. Mothlfukling bees.

Chiggapuss also dented her passenger rear corner. It looks BaD..... :tinysmile_twink_t2:

Diablito has made a full recovery. Blair and I tore throught the trails this afternoon. Speaking of tearing, I dented my rear bumper and Blair tore his exhaust. I can't wait to do it again on Sunday, wheeling that is.

Strike a pose :)

Lots of fun with Diego as usual, Billy and Bob rode around too. That bottom most trail gnarly.

I lost my exhaust on Stinger just north of "the pit".

We trail blazed just making some simple fun cut throughs, but one of them is kinda neat since you have to cross a bunch of little logs.

Riding with Billy, we noticed another gully that once cleaned out should make a fun loop coming up the hill outside of the left loop at you stare at ballsack intersection.

I plan on taking tools and at least starting to work on it Sunday. Probably go early just cause.
