Ok so my soft top has developed a very pronounced loud irritating squeek. It took a couple of weeks but I found the source. Its the Metal clamping part that hides behind the sun visor.

I came to this conclusion because the squeek sounds metal on metal, and the clamp thingy has a metal hinge and clamps to metal. Also I know its this because when I unclamp it, the noise stops, but once I clamp it down it starts right up again.

My question to you is what should I use to stop the squeek. I was thinking a "dry" mountain bike chain lube. Ethel says in her best Hank Hill voice....what that right there needs is some wd-40.

Suggestions....ideas?????????

you could try lube, but my initial thoughts are maybe to pad the clamp with a piece of old t-shirt or towel that is cut to fit right in there. It would be a barrier between the two metal peices and maybe eliminate the squeak. Just a thought.

I actually think its the hinge pin itself thats doing the squeeking. when I move it around I can hear it a little bit. Its when its under load that it really gets obnoxious.

Take it back to the dealership since your Jeep is still under warranty, and have them give you a new one.
