Got my carb from the junkyard, rebuilt it. Had a few vaccum leaks, have that sorted out now that I can tell.

1.08 venturi's, plugs look good. Ignition is a HEI/TFI hybrid, all new components.

Problem I 1st had after rebuild was it would run but not idle due to vaccum leaks. Had to choke it out to idle even when hot, but ran like a scalded cat with half choke or so.

Now after replacing some base gaskets, I have a great smooth idle, it will idle with choke fully open, but when I go to drive it, it stumbles badly unless I give it some choke.

Does not have black smoke, smell rich or anything like that.

Timing is right about 8BDTC, but needs to be checked as it's been a while.
Am I looking at a power valve issue, accel pump issue or what? Trying to read up on threads but geez there is ALOT of info out there.

Thanks for any input or help. Willing to travel for help also if it means getting it running.

Thanks
Blair

well I put on the MC 2100 on my CJ, Thing with the timing, if you put the TFI on the cj timing needs to be moved up a bit, interrestingly I did it by ear and got a good timing, I think it is at +10, THe vacuume line are a hastle and I would replace all the lines that go to the carb. I had problems with the choke myself, my solution to that was a wire holding it openl, because I had problms with it and not bing abale to ret over about 2000 rpm, now it its hot a sh..t load of power and torque eventhough i do still tinker with the mixture sometimes It now reves to 4500 no problems and even goes over that. Don't forget you should nutter it, so the computer doesn't try anything with the ignition timing. Make sure all the vacuume lines are connected correctly
