Question:

I have an '05 Sport with recently (not yet dirty) Rubicon Express 4.5" Superflex on 3.5" Springs and am considering a TT or LA since I apparently accidentally ordered an SYE and Custom TW drive shaft from DC4WD.

I had been figuring by the time I ship the TT Skids, MML, BL and install all that, I'm probably not very far from just going to the Long Arm Kit and trying to sell my short arms to recover a little expense. I'm wondering if the DS I was shipped (have no idea of the specs, DC just shipped it) will fit with the LA and why I would or would not want to do it.

I called Rubicon Express, they said the LA is really more for a daily driven Jeep, but I'm not far $$ wise from just going for it. I'm seriously considering it, but I'm on the fence.

What do ya'll think??

With the long arm your gonna be all over the road. W/ the kit you just got you will be just fine. The long arm stuff is for kits w/ over 6" of lift or more. your just gonna be throwing money at it.

Hmmm... I didn't know I'd have drivability issues. I was under the impression the geometry was better with the LA, making for an even better solution to the lift I have. I guess I'll keep what I've got hung and get rid of the shovel situation, since I'm waiting on the SYE/TW Shaft. Which TT is the best solution. I like the Jeep Medic, but it doesn't appear to be available.

geometry is better with larger lifts, IE 6+ inches or more. At 3.5" your arms aren't really going to move much at all, will probably be too soft. The short arms provide a little bit of resistance along with the springs and shocks to work together.

Fryed_1 and 02TJ are right, with the suspension you are going with you'll be better off with a short arm kit as opposed to going long arm. Don't forget to add into your cost, the cutting, and welding required to get your long arm kit set up, obviously I have no idea what your mechanical ability is however, so... But with the springs/shocks you are talking about, your not going to have to adjust your control arms much, Im running 4in OME SPrings/shocks and only had to adjust my rear lower's about 3/8's inch and my front by the same. I do need to get some upper adjustables so I can better dial in my pinon angle and get my full wheel base back. Just my 2 cents.. let us know what you go with.

If I can get mine up to speed for the next ride, I'll show you what a short-arm looks like when it's almost maxxed out. I have about 7" of lift on my XJ and it's a real pain to deal with. VERY bumpy on and offroad.

Can you get drop brackets for a TJ? That might be a better option for you.
