Wanted to throw some info out there cause I keep hearing people talk of how "lame" Peters MIll is.
I think it really depends on what time of year you go as to what you can expect on the trails.
They close from the 3rd Monday in January to the 3rd Monday in March each year for trail maintence and enhancment. During this time is when I think they go through and grade it down and smooth it out so for a few months after they re-open you will get that "dirt road" feel to it.
We have gone in October and November and it was very rocky and a lot of fun. After hearing talk of it being nothing I went my first time expecting a trail like flagpole--but I was wrong. Now Im not saying its super challenging but in my opinion its more fun than flagpole. A participant in our group recalls going back on Memorial Day weekend and it being just like riding down a dirtroad and then after our last run saying "I dont remember it being this rocky before-seems a lot different and better".
Yeti has also done the trail in the snow and had a lot of fun with it.
All Im saying is dont count it out till you've tried it and seen what it has to offer, seems like best time is to go it later in the year, and its closer than flagpole.
Its a great shakedown, just wanna get out for a bit run thats a lil closer to home for most.
