Beltway Jeepers will be hosting their second annual picnic party in the upcoming weeks.
All food, drinks (non alcoholic), and prizes will be provided by our sponsors and BOD's during this event.
UPDATE: The picnic will be hosted at Deadman's property
Address: 4120 Dumfries Road , Catlett, VA, 20119
Times: 12:00 pm until ???
When: Saturday, October 4th, 2008.
There will be a Beltway Jeepers banner posted along Route 605 that will guide you his property if you have not been at Bob's in the past.
We are going to need a head count, so please feel free to Post here if you will be attending. All other posts will be deleted in order to keep this thread clean.
Here is how this event is going to work.
There will be no fee for current BWJ members and their family
For non-paying BWJ members, there will be a $5 per person or $10 per family fee in order to cover the cost for the food and drinks.
If non members would like to become BWJ members during the annual picnic, the cost for a new membership will be $25 per person or $ 30 for a family membership (3 user accounts max / jeep owners only).
We look forward to making this a fun event.

Yup 4th is better for us.
On the 11th, you have MilJeep's going away for Military Jeepers.
And I believe NoVaJeepers changed their Swap Meet to the 11th along with their Technical Skills day.
So cross members across all 3 would be hard pressed to do it all.

Its pretty much dead center--depends on where you are coming from--if you dont mind driving through manassas then 28.
29 if your coming off 66.

Basically if you come from Rt29, when you pass the closed curb store on the left slow down it will be coming up on the left. You can't see his house from the road during most of the year.
If you come from Rt28 if you see the closed curb store on the right, ya went too far.
Believe someone is putting a sign outside his drive for ya all to notice.
Cell reception is spotty at best on his property, but I'll make sure someone has their CB on BWJ's usual channel while we are in the back field.

As you come down the drive if you see the horses out please drive slow as to not spook them, once you get to the house keep going around back of it and follow the path around to the open field and you can park there and thats where everything will be set up.

Unless it's been removed, there's a small sign at the entrance to his property that says New Walden Pond. It's right at a bend in the road -- tricky from either direction.

Yes Dan I winched my self out twice. We all got through it the first time with just Karl and I stuck in it and headed back up to the picnic are and were sitting there and I opened my mouth, I said hey lets do it again! Before I knew it everyone was running for their jeeps and headed in again. We you know how i am about calling myself out. The second time around we had a blast Deigo burned up his winch, Jason got stuck and as I walked away from his rig he hit the gas and before I knew it I was covered in mud. Good thing I had a change of clothes because I changed out and then Diego hit the hole and we all were covered again from his wide open throttle pass. there was nowhere to hide from the flinging mudd.

You've all figured out by now that Deadman has the highest fiber mud ever. He probably told you that's because most of it passed through a cow's gut at some time (add that certain special aroma). They don't make power washers strong enough to quickly remove that stuff!
So sorry I couldn't be there.

I do see lockers in my very near future though, right after the tcase swap, rear axle swap, belly pan, rocker bars, front axle swap, oh hell.... Lockers might be further than I thought.

I'd think about getting a hydraulic winch for the FSJ Yeti, that 360 will have no issue spinning an extra pump for the winch.
My 10k winch got one hell of a work out too.
Things I noticed from all of the recoveries we did that day.
1) Wheel chocks with some sort of cleat on the bottom would be a good idea.
2) Back tying the pulling the winching vehicle for hard pulls to a tree.
3) I need a Hi-lift.
4) Snatch Blocks.

Took me a full tank of gas on the pressure washer today. And I still have to tackle the undercarriage. I love mud, just hate cleaning it.

Every time I hear/see the word "undercarriage" all I can think about is Jessica Simpson talking about her "undercarriage" in the Dukes of Hazzard movie. :tinysmile_hmm_t2:

Like previously mentioned, I hope you'll still have your raffle tickets for the lift kit that BWJ/DDC/PBC are giving away.
I will pick up the lift from the shop on Friday and will post the winning number here on this Thread.
GOOD LUCK!
