48 willys sedan delivery.

91 S10 shortbed singlecab frame with suspension and steering on.

302 engine from late 80's ford.

The willys frame is near trashed. Suspension torched off. LOTS of rust, etc...

Now I've already measured it up. The willys body will fit perfectly on the S10 frame. The wheelbase is 2" off at 107" on the S10 frame, 105" on the willys frame. That's ok. I've already tacked on the front end on the S10 frame where it should mount up and I like the look of the wheels 2" farther up in the wheel wells.

Now tranny. It has the original 3sp steering column. I'd like to keep the "3 on the tree" steering column. But I'm not a big ford guy. Anyone know a good 3sp (or 3sp+overdrive) ford tranny that's worth a damn that will bolt up to a 302?

For rear end, I'm looking for a 10bolt chevy rear... probably like the ones from a late-60's camaro. I'd like to find one shortened about 5-6" and tub the rear out some. Since the body is all sheet metal, it'll be easy to shorten. If I stick to less than 6", I won't have to shorten the frame cause I can make up the difference with the offset in the rims. From what I've measured, I think it can fit up to a 395 wide tires in the rear without much cutting.

For the engine, until I can find the 40's flathead v8 like I want, I'm thinking of doing some work on the 302 and making a 331 stroker out of it. I figure it'll cost me about $1000 in machine work and parts to get about 400+hp out of it with new heads, .030 JE pistons, rods, crank, cams, etc... Maybe $1500 max if I do most of the work aside from the block machining myself. Dyno duning is a different story though :(

Any ideas on what else I could do? I'm working on a MAJOR budget here, but can do most of the fab work myself.
