OK, the new guy needs some help. BTW, this is for a 97 Sport that I picked up this weekend, so I am no longer just a Yota driving heathen :-)

My new baby TJ needs lots of work, including new tires (its been sitting in a driveway for 2 years). It has AR-767 15" x 8" wheels. However, all the 33" or 35" tires I can find say min. rim size is 8.5". Do I need to buy new wheels, or will these tires live on an 8" rim?

Thanks!

w/ 15x8 rim you'll want to step up the width of the tire to larger then the 8in wide rim. So for example, on my 15x10 in rims, I have 33x12.5's, but I'm limited to how far I can air down when wheeling. The lower the PSI in the tire, the more likely I am to bust a bead when aired down if the tire is almost the same size as the rim. So you increase the tire width to the rim size. So If I were you, I'd be looking for 33 or 35 by 1250's.

You will be fine with any 10.50 or bigger tire. I wouldn't go higher then a 12.50. The side walls on wider tires will bulge more but you will be fine, anything higher then 12.50 will probably be to much.
