Go to Summitracing.com and search for part number MRG-5102.
It's a set of 4 flush mount valve stems for $15.95. You may even find them local at a speed shop somewhere, like the one on 29 by Cedar Lane in Vienna.(can't remember the name of it, but it's a small brick building by the 7-11.)

I have no affiliation with any companies selling these, just passing on info.

The place your thinking of is or use to be "The Powerhouse". The owner Bill is a strange fellow I have dealt with him many times. He likes to see money and he will most likely be turned off at the mention of "Jeep".
I recomend Summit, Jegs or Auto Sport (in ashburn).

what and miss out on all the excitement accompanied by the sound of a tire blowing all its air out a busted valve stem...

On second thought...hhhmmmm.... anybody with an idea on how these things work?

you unscrew the cap, put the stem in and blow up the tire. When the tire is blown up, you remove the stem and screw the cap back in. Reverse for deflating but remember not to put air in it.

I take it that there is some kind of one way valve to keep air from rushing out when you take the cap out and put the valve stem in...
am I right???

I don't know. I've never messed with them too much aside from the store. I think with the stem in it will rush out so you can quickly deflate, but it doesn't with the stem out even if the cap is off. So really, how much air can escape in the half a second it takes to pull the stem out?

I believe it is a one way valve, the cap is to keep crap out of it.

According to the mfg.'s instructions (http://go.mrgasket.com/pdf/5102.pdf), the valve core is indeed in the small part that stays on the rim. I'm up for new tires before summer, so I'm definitely going for these.
