Not a "member" right now, but just stopping in to say hi. I purchased a beat-up, many-things-wrong-with-it 1990 2-door XJ (5MT). When I bought it it had 32s and a terribly-done 5" lift (blocks, more blocks, spacers, more spacers), and basically every suspension and steering component was shot, loose, or wrong.
Still learning Jeeps myself (I'm a classic sportscar guy), but I've made a number of changes:
- all new steering linkages and ends
- new trackbar (with axle redrill)
- new OME stabilizer
- Skyjacker hydro shocks
- 3" actual lift (unknown AAL and lift spings)
- Blackout (kind of custom) safari rack
- new BFG AT 31s on stock star wheels with spacers (1" front, 1.25" rear)
- new carpeting, mats, and various trim pieces
- some custom mounts for hi-lift, spare on rack, etc....
- hella 550 yellow on bumper, floods on rack
- auxiliary reverse lighting
and some other stuff.
Also I picked up a used '93 xj rear spare holder which I'm modifying/strengthening to put on my XJ.
Overall, I really just use it for home-depot runs and other utility jobs but eventually would like to do some light wheeling once my 1-month-old daughter is a bit older and I take care of some mechanical issues on the XJ to make it "dependable/reliable" to some extent.
I'm already over at NAXJA, NovaJeepers, MilitaryJeepers, and CapitolJeepers....I figure the more sites I join, the more I'll learn. I'm betting alot of the people are the same on these forums anyhow...Eventually I'll get a membership here, but finances are tight and I've already donated to too many automotive sites this year (I'm a moderator at maxima.org and a regular at classic british car and SCCA/autocross forums aswell)..
Anyhow, see you guys around, and I'll be sure to join up when the time is right. Here are a couple poser driveway shots of my XJ...and right now I'm just a poser at this myself...
