I am running a special on my labor to install gears. I usually charge $250.00 an axle but for a short time I'll do them for $200.00 per axle if I do it before Christmas this year. Air lockers will be extra for lines and compressor and wiring.

14ff included in that list?

does that include the Jk Ruby?
I don't know if they are any different of not just have the electric lockers and tighter torque requirements.

All stock Rubicons have electronic lockers TJ's / JK's.

Not really electronic.. They have air lockers. Electronically controlled..

actually there is a lot different with the JK gears then TJ's. for one, the JK has done away with different carrier sizes for different gear ratios. Now each ring gear's thickness is different. Shims on the outside of the carrier bearings (not sure if TJ's were like that or not). The bolt sizes are bigger. Torque specs are different. And the JK's lockers are all electric, no air. Different company then the TJ rubi's. Also the 44 axles are stronger, the axle shafts are almost as big as a 60 now (at least that is what Jay Stulls said when he put my gears in, i've never seen a 60 axle shaft).
Most shops I called tried to say I needed new carriers, so I obviously didn't go with them, I went all the way up to PA to Stulls (he is a friend of a friend..)
I wish I knew someone local like this before! At least now I know, so when Jen gets new gears, I'll be checking around here first!

You are correct on the carriers and most diffs use that same shim location. I always torque to specs and set back lash to specs.

Thats for the reply. Not trying to question any one ability. I know I can't do it myself. Just with so little post from other JK owners I didn't know if they had a major difference. And since everything for the JKs cost more I just wanted to make sure. Don't know if I can work it out before the holidays or not but atleast I know someone now who can do it. Thanks

wow this is a super old post... i totally forgot you did gears...
what would you charge for 5.13's in a JK Rubicon? I got the gears and install kits, but no extra bearings to make set up bearings, but I was thinking of ordering at least the 2 pinion bearings so i can make a set of set up bearings...
how much would you charge if i help do most of the work, and you just guide me?? I helped with my last set and am just about 75% confident to do my own, but would still like to do it one more time with help. I have all next week off, and would love to have them done before next Wednesday if at all possible... gears are sitting in a box right here beside me, silently whispering "put me in, put me in, put me in"
